The Family Space

The Family Space is a playful learning hub where children and their families can freely discover an abundance of books, toys, and manipulatives that spark learning opportunities and cross-generational communication.

Community Bookshelves

Community bookshelves are located in banks, hospitals, doctor's offices, and other places families frequent. They are filled with dozens of new and gently used, culturally inclusive children’s books for families to take home and keep forever.

Book Babies

Beginning when a baby is born, Book Babies partners with families of Medicaid-eligible children to provide resources, skills, and support to optimize their child's early language and literacy skills. If you have a newborn that is Medicaid eligible, younger than 15 weeks, and lives in Durham County, you might be able to enroll your baby!

Book Boxes

Book Boxes are colorful, outdoor book hubs placed in community settings that families frequent. They are filled with dozens of books in English and Spanish for children of all ages; engaging titles that children and families can choose to take home and build their own home libraries.

Laundromats

Book Harvest partners with laundromats to maintain cozy reading corners filled with books and activities to encourage parent-child engagement. The bookshelves are filled with culturally diverse books free for the taking.
