A total of 31 businesses have already signed on to sponsor our Dream Big Book Drive on MLK Day 2018!
31 businesses who have said they know how important our work at Book Harvest is, and they want to be part of making it happen. 31 businesses who know that local children rely on Book Harvest to make sure they have all the books and literacy supports they need to be successful — to the tune of 735,070 books and counting! 31 businesses who know the value of a bedtime story and a summer filled with reading. 31 businesses whose names and logos will be featured at the biggest event in our community on the afternoon of MLK Day…and whose stars are already in our front window and on our conference room wall!
Who are these 31 sponsors?
To begin with, there’s Duke University Libraries, returning as a Presenting Sponsor for the third year in a row. “What a wonderful organization – we are glad and proud to help out, as a LIBRARY!” says Debora Jakubs, the Rita DiGiallonardo Holloway University Librarian and the Vice Provost for Library Affairs.
We have three Dream Sponsors on board: Written Word Media, Mebane Foundation, and Johnson Lexus. Of why they’re returning as sponsors for a second year, Katelyn Paul of Johnson Lexus explains, “Joining Book Harvest’s Dream Big Book Drive is a joy and a privilege! Whatever we can do to ensure that every child in our community grows up with books is one way we know we are making a real difference for our kids. And what a sensational event: the families, the music, the special guests, and all those BOOKS!”
Kim Satterfield of Elms Lane Realty, joining us as a Reach Sponsor, says that there are so many good causes in the world, it can be hard to pick one. She believes literacy is important to a strong community and believes supporting Book Harvest is one of the best ways to support literacy. This is Elms Lane’s second year as a Dream Big sponsor.
We already have 11 Strive Sponsors signed on! They are ABC-11 WTVD, Employee Benefit Systems, Duke School, Clifton and Mauney Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry, Shared Visions Foundation, Durham and Chapel Hill Magazines, Vital Source, The Hill Center and Durham Academy, Durham Lions Club, Duke Street Pediatric Dentistry, Urban Durham Realty, and American Party Rentals. What a list!
Says Monica Barnes, Community Affairs and Programming Coordinator at ABC-11 WTVD, four-year Dream Big sponsor and media partner, “We really enjoy this partnership and are so pleased that we can help further the mission and work of Book Harvest.” Jeffry Berman, founder and president of Employee Benefit Systems, a three-time sponsor for the event, couldn’t agree more: “Supporting the Dream Big Book Drive is an easy decision every year. We know our sponsorship dollars are helping children reach their full potential, and we are glad to be able to partner in that important work!”
Eight Hope Sponsors are already dreaming big with us this year: Kennon Craver PLLC, Millennium Sports Club, Kiwanis Club of Durham, The Link Group, Durham Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, Carolina Friends School, Marie Austin Realty Company, and Durham Catering Company. Patrik Conteh at Millennium Sports Club says that everybody should give back to their community, and by giving to Book Harvest he gives back to all the kids in our community. This will also be his third year hosting a book drive leading up to the main event on MLK Day! Melissa Pfeil at The Link Group explains, “We believe that providing books to children is one of the best ways we can help. Books give children the chance to foster their love of learning and enhance their knowledge in creative, educational, safe, fun ways!” We couldn’t agree more!
Our seven Change Sponsors are Montessori Children’s House of Durham, The Aluminum Company of North Carolina, Parents’ Morning Out at Duke Memorial UMC, Magic Factory, Jewish Family Services of the Durham Chapel Hill Jewish Federation, Durham Family Law Group PLLC, and Patina. Says Julie Woodmansee of Durham Family Law Group, “Thanks for all you are doing in support of children reading!”
That last message is for all of our 31 sponsors: Thanks for all YOU are doing in support of children reading!
If your name isn’t on this list yet, there’s still time for you to become sponsor #32! If you sign on by November 15, you’ll be certain to have your sponsor logo included in our event promotional materials. Check out our sponsorship page to learn more about all the perks of becoming a sponsor and what you need to do to join this awesome list — and most importantly, to join these 31 sponsors in saying you agree that all children deserve to grow up with all the books and literacy supports they need to reach their full potential.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our Dream Big family!
