Happy Thanksgiving! This week I feasted on turkey, pie, and lots and lots of books. I could not be more grateful for the wonderful stories that enrich me or for the community of literacy allies who surround me and lift me up all year long.
I am also deeply thankful this week for our friends at Education NC, who published a marvelous profile of our Book Babies program on November 20. It shares what we feel deeply in o
ur hearts: the parents whose babies are enrolled in Book Babies are doing heroes’ work to give their precious children the best start in life, and we feel immensely privileged to support them in this work. This sums up the premise of Book Babies as outlined in the EdNC piece:
1) you, the parents, are the experts;
2) we are here to support you on your journey;
3) your baby is capable of greatness; and
4) together we can make sure your child is kindergarten ready.
Read the entire piece (and take my pop quiz!) here.
Another thing I am thankful for is the News and Observer, which published a profile of Book Harvest in its annual Triangle Gives section on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you, N&O, for helping share our story! Read the article here.
And now it is time to get ready for Giving Tuesday! We have a very special surprise to share next Tuesday — stay tuned and be prepared to smile and laugh!
