Grab-and-Go Halloween Edition: A Report!

Hello, we are the Shields sisters!

Our experience with volunteering at Book Harvest is always enjoyable. This Halloween my sister and I were excited to volunteer at Grab-and-Go Halloween. We got to deliver treat bags to children as they waited for another volunteer to deliver their books to their car. Their little faces lit up with joy when they received their treat bags and books. It is such a rewarding feeling.

It was wonderful to be a part of a team of hardworking Book Harvest staff and volunteers that endured the cold to deliver literature experiences as well as the joy of Halloween to children. Interacting with the other Book Harvest team members as we worked to serve the community was one of the highlights of the entire experience. Volunteering at Book Harvest is a family-friendly activity that you and your family can be a part of.

We ended up having 388 cars come and partake in our attempt to spread Halloween joy. Delivering 3,622 books to a total of 764 kids was a very enjoyable experience; it is so amazing there are such great people that are willing to dedicate their time to an event such as this! Overall I think it’s safe to say the event was definitely a success.
