What’s NEW at Dream Big this year?

Maybe you’re a Dream Big veteran, having joined us for many or even all of our past seven Dream Big events. Maybe you’re wondering what to get excited about this year — what’s NEW and different about our eighth annual Dream Big Book Drive and Community Celebration?

We’re excited to say there is LOTS that’s new about Dream Big 2019!

  1. A NEW community art project where kids and adults of all ages can put their craftiness to work — the specifics are a secret, but here’s a hint: it involves THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of plastic bottle caps…

  2. A NEW special guest, a Durham legend: The Poetry Fox! Start thinking of your special word…

  3. A NEW community corner, where you can meet representatives from partner organizations and literacy allies and learn more about what they offer…

  4. A NEW facepainter: Fun Faces by Sherry! Check out her amazing artwork and start thinking about your special request…

  5. A NEW food truck: Qspresso will be joining us this year with their incredible Cuban cuisine…

  6. And perhaps most importantly, a NEW book giveaway! That’s right: every child who joins us gets to pick out a free book to take home and keep forever!

Of course, lots of your favorite staples from Dream Big years past will be back again, too: all the crafting your heart desires with The Scrap Exchange; a veritable zoo-full of mascots, including everyone’s favorite Wool E. Bull; deliciousness from Mr. A’s Beignets, Dang Good Dogs, and Mad Popper; plus lawn games, music, bookmark-making, and a chance to hang out with neighbors and friends and celebrate books and literacy for ALL kids!

We hope you’re planning to join us! And if you haven’t already, invite your friends to come along, too!
