Bria Davenport

Events Manager
Bria Davenport (she/her) brings a dynamic blend of creativity and community engagement to her role as Events Manager. With a BS in Fashion Merchandising & Design from North Carolina A&T State University, Bria’s background blends creative vision with practical execution. Her six years in middle school education at Student U provided invaluable experience in planning and executing engaging programs for students and families, resulting in a 50% increase in attendance and engagement. A demonstrated advocate for the community, Bria founded a startup in 2020 that connected and equipped Black women to achieve their beauty, wealth and health goals.

Since November 2022, Bria has led the planning and execution of all Book Harvest events, from large-scale initiatives like the Dream Big Book Drive and the Summer Block Party to smaller, community-focused gatherings in our Family Space and beyond. She also supports development efforts, working to secure crucial funding for Book Harvest’s mission of providing books and fostering a love of reading in young children. Bria is passionate about impacting the lives of Durham’s children and opening doors for their growth and development.

Bria is a DIY expert, and enjoys finding deals and crafting. Naturally, her favorite children's book is a colorful one: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault.
