What she does at Book Harvest: Malika helps ensure the safe organization and provision of books through Book Harvest’s many programs with specific emphasis on the Books on Break program. She also assists with survey distribution and reporting as well as identifying new outlets for book provision and program opportunities. 

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Experience:  She was a servant leader intern for the Durham Freedom School and she taught preservice teachers at Iowa State University for three years.

Community Involvement:  Malika is a member of AmeriCorps and NC Literary Corps.

Likes & Loves: Malika enjoys listening to music and attending concerts. She also loves traveling whether it be stateside or internationally.

Favorite Children’s Book: Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale by John Steptoe 

What she’s hopeful for: She hopes that every child is able to access an educational experience where they are supported, inspired, and valued.
