Role at Book Harvest: Rachel leads the strategy and oversees the portfolio of Book Harvest’s book access, book ownership, and community-wide literacy programs, striving to create a culture of literacy by ensuring that there is abundant and equitable access to free and culturally inclusive books for every family wherever families are.

Favorite Children’s Book Right Now: “The Paperboy” by Dav Pilkey

Likes & Loves: Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and teenaged sons, going on walks with friends, and traveling to California to be with her extended family.

Community Involvement: Steering Committee for Durham’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, Learning Happens Everywhere Project Advisory Committee

Where she studied: Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from Westmont College and Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California

Experience: 12 years of nonprofit experience, 5 years of experience in education
