Nothing gets accomplished at Book Harvest without the help of hundreds of hardworking volunteers each year, and there are lots of different ways to plug in to our team. Want to volunteer with a group?
We welcome small groups to help us with various projects. Volunteer with your company, neighborhood, book club...you name it! Email our Associate Director of Community Engagement, Caitlyn Bergmann, at caitlyn@bookharvest.org to learn more!
Want to run a book drive?
We also need volunteers to run book drives year-round! Running a book drive is a simple, high impact activity for groups, families, children and teens, or anyone who wants to support our mission. Learn all you need to know about how to run a book drive and sign up online today!
Become a Regular Volunteer
Are you looking to make a regular volunteer commitment to Book Harvest? Volunteers are needed to sort books, fill local Book Boxes and bookshelves, count book donations, and more!
Kids ages 16 and up can volunteer without a parent. (We occasionally hold community book sorts, which are family-friendly and kids under the age of 16 can volunteer as long as a parent/guardian is with them). Register for a book sort in June.

If you are interested in learning more about volunteering and/or are looking for a more regular role, please join us for our quarterly New Volunteer Orientation. Orientations will be held in person at Book Harvest Durham, 2501 University Drive.

Attendees will need to be vaccinated/boosted for COVID. If changes to this policy are made, we will update the website.
