Shop Local. Support Local

By Benay Hicks December 1, 2021

The supply chain! The mall crowds! Omicron! The holidays this year seem to be surrounded by a fresh wave of panic. One solution: shop at a local bookstore! They’re cozy, they smell like paper…sometimes coffee…and they provide a sense of peace. Just what we all need during the hustle and bustle of the season.

This December, Book Harvest and Weaver Street Market have teamed up with eight local bookstores to make it easy for you to shop local and support local families. Just pop by a participating bookstore near you during the month of December shop a special selection of culturally-inclusive children’s books to donate to Book Harvest and/or keep for your home library! Some of the bookstores are even offering online shopping!

The bookstores will hang onto the books for you and Weaver Street Market will ensure they make their way to Book Harvest. You can also bring them to donate them personally at Book Harvest’s Dream Big event on January 17 at Durham Central Park.
