Why Dream Small When You Can Dream BIG

November 17, 2022 | By Benay Hicks

As of today, Book Harvest has provided kids in our community with 211,945 books so far this year! Books are flying off of our shelves, which means it’s time to replenish our stock. Luckily, it’s time for the 12th annual Dream Big Book Drive — the biggest children’s book drive in the Triangle!

Book Harvest’s Dream Big Book Drive is a community effort to collect tens of thousands of children’s books throughout December and January, culminating in the Dream Big Book Drive and Community Celebration on MLK Day — January 16, 2023 from 1-4 PM.

While our big event is on January 16, all books donated between December 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023 will count toward our 2023 Dream Big total! That means there are SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES for book drives!

Have a holiday party coming up? Request books instead of host/ess gifts.

Want to unite your workplace by giving back this season? Have a book drive in the office!

Maybe the kids in your neighborhood want to go caroling for books? If they do, be sure to film it because that would be so fun to share!

Want to start the New Year off in a positive way? See if you and your friends can collect 23 books…or perhaps 2023???

Ultimately, the sky is the limit! And we’re here to help. Book drives can be online, in person, or a mix of both! Online book drives will once again be conducted through The Regulator Book Shop, an independent book store in Durham. Just let us know what kind of drive you would like to run when you register.

Plus, our book drive yard signs are still available, as modeled by our CEO’s beloved dog, Wonton.

You can register your book drive and check out the 2022-2023 Dream Big Book Drive Toolkit. If you have any questions, email Benay Hicks at benay@bookharvest.org.
